The Rotting Solo Filipino Artists

My countrymen have always been known as music lovers. We are fond of gatherings, parties and special occasions and most of the time the indispensable videoke (or karaoke for some) is always present. Anyone who can sing the high notes are regarded as 'good singers', although this is not the only criteria that will earn a person a recording contract. Most of the songs performed on singing contests are usually what people generally call 'love songs'. Most of these are released during the '80s and '90s, while some have been playing in the radio stations for more than 3 decades. I do not claim to be an expert on such things or to have had the luxury of time to do a research, only that these observations are based on experience. The current trend (and it has been going on for quite some time) in the Filipino music industry is to revive the old love songs. I do not know who started this but I remember M.Y.M.P. got me into this new trend. It is a great thing to try an...

Imagine yourself being in a dilemma of choosing the right paint and furniture for the interior of your new home. You want every piece of item to reflect your personality and style. But you don’t know how to go about it. You turn to an expert for help, and having faith his sense of style and expertise in the field, you let him do all the work. It turns out the colors the designer used consisted of bold clashing patterns that give you motion sickness.             Like interior designing, web designing produces good results if there is collaborative effort on the part of the designer and the client. It’s just like doing a business plan. Give the designer a profile of your business and your objectives for the project. Set the scope and constraints of the plan. And most importantly, identify your target audience.             Tell your d...

Doing Business is Just One Click Away

Ever since McDonald’s set the trend of fast food restaurants in 1948, there has been an upsurge to follow this drift toward faster and cheaper technology. Although cheeseburgers contain the caloric equivalent of an entire roasted pig, they sell because people can get them faster.             Today the idea of finding ways to do things faster and easier has led people to create technology from instant food to instant messaging. It’s no surprise to see such changes taking place as well in business. In fact some traditional procedures have become out-of-date because many businesses now function through emails and the web. In addition there is a new avenue that is emerging that can help a busy business person like yourself and it’s as easy as keeping a diary or a journal. It gives the benefits of both the use of personal emails and business websites.             Blogging is informal...

Trash Panic: A Review

Title : Trash Panic or ゴミ箱 Gomibako Publisher: SCEA Platform: PlayStation 3 Modes: Single and two-player Trash Panic is different from most puzzle games because the player has to make the items fit in a limited space. Usually in most puzzles, the pieces are grouped together to make them disappear and provide more space for the other pieces that are dropped. Some good examples of this is Tetris and the classic brick game. This is not the case for this game. The size of the garbage bin in Trash Panic is uniform throughout the different stages of 3 modes that the player can choose from. The game will end when the player has dropped 3 undamaged items outside the bin. The next stage is unlocked once the player has compacted all the trash in the bin delivered by a yellow conveyor. The items delivered by a conveyor have different characteristics and the player must take these into consideration while disposing them. Some items are heavy objects that ...

Why Play Video Games?

As a long time enthusiast of video games, I think I would never be able to survive another year without it. I've been on a hiatus for seven years and I regret it. I missed a lot of good titles and it seems like I have wasted my time with other things. The first game I got hooked into was CounterStrike. I used to play with my high school female friends after school. We usually spent 3 hours at the Internet cafe challenging other players. I've never played with bots but with real people. One thing I noticed was the lack of females among the competitors. However, I went on hiatus because I cannot fully explain to my parents my need to get my daily head shots. It was only when I discovered that our personal computer had a handful of challenging real-time strategy (RTS) games that I rediscovered that passion. I was introduced to Generals by no less than my father. Next I tried Battle Realms and the old version of CounterStrike, but this time I played against bots. I love military ta...

The Flame

Note: I wrote this for my fiance a few years back. I've also posted this at Writing.com before (see links). I am consumed by your love that was once only a spark of admiration. You set it afire and the tongues of flame, flames of longing and desire, took over me. Everyday that we get closer I burn with the desire to touch you, to kiss you. I want to look into your eyes so I can find my soul in them. My happiness I know I can only find in your arms. I know I'll be complete just lying beside you in bed and hearing your heart beat. There is a special connection between us. Something beyond our understanding. A force so strong it broke our shields of hatred, distrust and loneliness. A force that brought two lonely souls together. There is a music played especially for us. Take me and dance with me. Hold me close and let our bodies speak for our hearts. I see eternity in your eyes. And as I think of this, I can't help but ask myself if this is true because o...

Parasite

I feel so sick and so alone. I need fulfillment but inside me is a parasite; eating my innards one by one. Little by little it becomes me and I become the parasite. The parasite took away my love for life and replaced it with pessimism and self-pity. I am disgusted of it but I can't get it out. I want to pull it out and clean my soul of its dirt. I seek consolation by blocking my emotions and denying the senses. Yet I wonder if numbness can make me stronger. Though it acts like a shield, it does not recognize what things are to be kept out. It imprisoned my soul. I feel like a box and within it are trapped voices. I feel like a book waiting to be read so that I may come alive. I am tired of locking memories in. I need to be in control of myself. I need me. I need my body and my soul back. I need to become human.
